PostSubject: United in for Atletico's De Gea?   Wed Jul 14, 2010 7:05 pm

Manchester United could be considering making a move for Atletico Madrid keeper David De Gea.
De Gea has been touted as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe and Manchester United are looking to line-up a classy replacement for veteran Edwin van der Sar, according to The People.
Van der Sar is in the twilight of his career and it is important for United to get an understudy to ease the transition when the Dutchman ultimately calls it a day.
As Arsenal have found, much to their dismay, lack of a good keeper is a serious drawback in mounting a Premier League title bid.
Ironically, it is Gunners keeper Manuel Almunia who could pave the way for De Gea's move to Old Trafford. Almunia has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid as Arsenal look to replace their error prone keeper.
With Atletico in deep financial trouble, they could cash in on De Gea while his star is shining bright in the football firmament.
